The call for nominees for the Association of Financial Advisers’ (AFA) 10th Excellence in Education Award has gone out, with the association searching for the most outstanding commitment to lifelong learning and professionalism in the industry.

Launching the award nominations, which are open until 16 June, AFA general manager Nick Hakes said the association was excited to continue the award in such a pivotal year for adviser education, given the recent passage of new professional standards reforms.

“The award process isn’t about recognising those with the most knowledge, but about celebrating advisers who put their knowledge to the best use,” he said.

He continued by stating that the award, which is sponsored by life insurer Asteron Life, would recognise passionate advisers who see education as a catalyst for adapting to a changing and complex advice environment.

Asteron Life key account and group insurance manager Daniel Waller said the insurer recognised the importance of ongoing education in the industry.

“Only through continual improvement in ourselves can we advance our profession overall,” he said.

Hakes said individual advisers’ drive to practically apply knowledge could help inspire an increase in professionalism across the entire advice spectrum.

“That’s why this award is so valued and essential, as it not only recognises the nominees, but also the need for ongoing education, no matter what age or stage of your career,” said Waller.

The winner of the award will be announced at the AFA National Adviser Conference in October on the Gold Coast.
