National Australia Bank (NAB) yesterday announced the appointment of Sean Allen as the general manager of its Godfrey Pembroke dealer group.

Allen replaces Peter Smith, who has been redeployed to the role of general manager of advice partnerships for NAB Wealth.

“Sean has an impressive record of success when it comes to advice leadership, strategy development and execution, product distribution and investment management,” Smith said.

“He is known for his strong passion for clients and I know he’ll work tirelessly to help the licensee firms within the Godfrey Pembroke network build client advocacy and harness technology in order to grow and become more productive.”

Allen was previously MLC Advice Solutions New South Wales state manager.

“I’m excited about building on the strong momentum that the advice network has and helping our advisers adapt to the new world for advice and take advantage of the opportunities that abound,” he said.

Prior to his time at MLC, he held senior positions with BT, Westpac and Colonial First State.

In March, NAB chief executive Cameron Clyne announced sweeping changes to reporting lines across the company’s personal banking, business banking, NAB wealth, product and markets, enterprise services and transformation, people communications and governance, risk and finance and strategy areas.

The changes are part of NAB’s new strategy to have a more integrated operating model and reduce duplication.

As a consequence of the restructuring, a number of managers have remained with NAB, though not in their current roles.
