BT has expanded its life insurance team with two additions tasked with improving overall adviser service delivery as well as spearheading the development of new products.

Former Pacific Life RE product development director Kim Cohen has been appointed as BT’s head of product in its life insurance team, with former Suncorp executive manager of life insurance Mark Bower also joining as national manager of acquisitions and servicing.

Cohen has 12 years’experience in life insurance, having previously worked in BT’s life insurance team for eight years across a variety of product development and life pricing roles.

Cohen joined Pacific Life RE in January last year and was responsible for overseeing the group’s product innovation by developing and investing in sustainable products in life, critical illness, income protection, hospital cash and longevity risk.

As the leader of BT’s life insurance product team, Cohen’s new role will see her tasked with driving product innovation and customer-focused solutions.

Bower has more than 20 years’ experience in life insurance including a variety of roles within Suncorp and Asteron Life, in addition to being the head of operations at Tower, now known as TAL.

At Suncorp Group, Bower’s most recent role saw him build and implement a plan and governance structure to drive momentum in the Asteron Life Insurance business.

Bower’s new role will centre on improving the insurance team’s service delivery to advisers.

BT head of life insurance operations Scott Moffitt said both appointments would strengthen the team and help BT continue to highlight the value and importance of life insurance to everyday Australians.

“Both Kim and Mark bring with them a wealth of experience, a customer-focused approach and a steadfast belief in the important role that insurance plays in helping Australians protect their families,” Moffitt said.

“We warmly welcome both of them to the life insurance team.”
