Perth wealth management firm Capital Partners Private Wealth Advisers has picked up both of the FPA’s major annual awards, winning Professional Practice of the Year while its adviser Michael Hayward also took out Certified Financial Planner (CFP) of the Year.

Recognising the firm at the 2017 FPA Congress in Hobart yesterday, the association said Capital Partners was an industry leader in the promotion of professional advice and an industry thought leader with a focus on educating clients.

Further, Hayward’s CFP of the Year win was due to his dedication to excellent client service, his innovative ‘plan on a page’ used to illustrate statements of advice, and his mentorship of other professionals, the FPA said.

Queensland was another big winner in the association’s annual awards, with three practice staff from the northern state being recognised for their work.

Winners included Alman Partners’ Adriana Brink for Paraplanner of the Year, Patricia Soares Garcia from WB Financial for Associate Financial Planner of the Year, and Dolfinwise’s Bronnie Abraham winning the Gwen Fletcher Memorial Award for highest performing student in semester one of the 2017 CFP program.

Michael Forer of Victorian practice Next Level Financial Services took out the same award for semester two of the program, while Adapt Wealth Management’s Reuben Zelwer won the Future2 Community Services Award for his work with Jewish Care Victoria.

Student of the Year was won by Griffith University’s Azaria Bell, who showed “academic excellence and commitment to becoming a future leader within financial planning”, according to the association.
