Global client reporting and communications software provider Vermilion Software has established a presence in Australia and subsequently announced the appointment of former OneVue head of adviser services Rob Chowdhury.

Chowdhury, who will be based in the firm’s Sydney office, had been employed to lead business development in Australia and New Zealand, the group said yesterday.

A spokesperson said Vermilion, which provides services to the financial asset management industry, had been pushing further into the Asia-Pacific region since it established a hub in Singapore in 2013.

“Vermilion’s new clients in the territory are a mix of local firms and the Asian investment management arm of global financial providers,” the group said.

“Notably, one of Australia's largest banks is live on Vermilion's reporting platform and is now expanding its implementation in Sydney.”

Financialobserver contacted the group to confirm which companies it was now servicing and targeting, but was unable to a get a response prior to deadline.

Chowdhury, who most recently worked at platform and fund services provider OneVue, brings to the role a range of experience in head roles with RBC Investor Services and back office vendor Omgeo (now a subsidiary of the DTCC).

“We are focusing on both new client targets and expanding our existing implementations and support,” said Vermilion co-founder and global sales and marketing director Simon Cornwell, who is based in Singapore.

“[Further,] we welcome Rob to the team and are confident that with his knowledge and experience, we can increase our presence in the Australian market.”

Meanwhile according to LinkedIn, in January OneVue appointed a new head of adviser services, Kevin Kwan, who was previously a self-managed super fund compliance manager and consulting manager for Deloitte Australia.
