Former Yellow Brick Road chief executive Matt Lawler has been recruited as OneVue’s executive general manager of wealth management services.

The new role will see Lawler spearhead OneVue’s expansion strategy for distribution in institutions, licensee groups, accounting groups and boutique financial planning firms.

He will assume responsibility for product and marketing, and oversee the growth of OneVue’s existing B2B and B2C partnerships to access a greater pool of superannuation and investment services for their clients.

OneVue group managing director Connie Mckeage said Lawler’s experience and reputation in wealth management would be vital to the group’s overall strategy.

“Matt’s role will deliver additional value to current partnerships with planners and secure new relationships,” Mckeage said.

“This rounds out the executive to create an exceptional team with the best skills, breadth of experience and personality to drive the next phase of OneVue’s business growth.”

Lawler’s career in the financial services sector spans over 25 years, with senior executive roles at MLC and National Australia Bank before his role at Yellow Brick Road.

He has been responsible for leading large networks of financial planners and accountants, as well as forming new advised and direct-to-member footprints for existing businesses.

Lawler said he was excited about OneVue’s Fund Exchange initiative, which had the potential to be “a real game changer”.

"I have worked with Connie and the team at OneVue during the last five years and have experienced first-hand their talent,” he said.

“Innovation is in their DNA and their culture is genuinely partnership-based, internally and externally.

“The business is solid and growing, with strong future prospects.”

Earlier appointments this year included Richard Harris-Smith as executive general manager of fund services in February, Angela Tonkin in the role of head of client services in September, and Vince Parrott as executive general manager of trustee and governance services last month following the OneVue merger with Diversa.
