After almost a decade with National Australia Bank (NAB), Brian Parker will leave the group on 10 June, financialobserver has learned.

Head of Portfolio Specialists Group for MLC and NAB Asset Management, Parker has accepted a role with another organisation in the industry, an internal communication provided to the publication has revealed.

“While we are of course sad to see Brian leave, it is a very good career opportunity for him and we wish him all the best in his new challenge,” the group said.

“Brian's role as Head of Portfolio Specialists Group for MLC and NAB Asset Management has taken him to towns and cities all over Australia, where he has educated and entertained thousands of financial advisers and clients on a range of investments and economic developments.

“Brian showed us that even the driest of economic topics can be presented with such passion, enthusiasm and humour that we are left to wonder if he missed his calling as an entertainer.”

Parker leaves a “very capable” Portfolio Specialists Group which includes John Owen and Kajanga Kulatunga, and which has recently been expanded to include Jo Niall and Natalie Comino.

“The Portfolio Specialists Group, supported by the broader NAB Asset Management Investment Communications team, continues to be available to support all of the MLC funds and NAB Asset Management partners,” the group said.

“We will start working through the process to find Brian's replacement immediately.”

The group confirmed that his role was not part of the MLC investment team, therefore his departure would not affect the management of the funds.

It was not yet known what organisation Parker would be joining.
